DST’s Machinery fleet continues to grow

AI-assisted control, simultaneous machining, and more detailed processing: The new 5-axis machining centre from Mazak opens up a wide range of new possibilities in component manufacturing.

Following the recent commissioning of the new WIKA laser welding system, DST continues to expand its machinery fleet. The new milling machine from manufacturer Mazak (model VARIAXIS i-700 Neo) is now part of the machine fleet.

Whether it’s complex shapes, large workpieces or changing requirements – the advanced 5-axis machining centre enables even more precise processing, even for larger components. The new system allows multiple workpieces to be machined simultaneously.
“This means even faster production times while maintaining consistently high quality – and significantly boosts our manufacturing efficiency,” explains Julius Leonhard, Head of Production at DST.

Intelligent Control for Smart Manufacturing
A particular highlight is the integrated AI-supported control system Mazatrol Smooth Ai. This technology simplifies programming:
“For many steps, we previously had to manually create time-consuming subprogrammes – the new system now generates them automatically,” says Julius Leonhard. The smart technology increases efficiency and flexibility in day-to-day operations.

Another advantage: the VARIAXIS i-700 Neo can import STEP files directly. This simplifies the machining of complex geometries and shortens lead times – especially when producing intricate contours and custom parts.

Looking ahead to future requirements, the new machining centre is well equipped. Whether for planetary gear systems or further automation solutions – the machine can be seamlessly integrated into both current and future production concepts.
